Michael Stephens is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC). He earned his Master’s Degree in Human Development Counseling / Family Therapy from the University of Illinois-Springfield. He is presently a doctoral/PhD candidate at Duquesne University. His experience includes working with clients individually with a wide array of diagnoses, but has a distinct interest in working with Family Therapy & Couples Therapy. Michael works with a mode of therapy called Narrative Therapy, which is a great tool for assisting families and individuals to look at life critically, holistically, and process the changes they would like to see in their lives and relationships.
Michael has worked with local agencies doing outpatient therapy, school-based therapy, in home Applied Behavioral Analysis (ABA) work with Autism Spectrum Disorders, and in-home Family-Based therapy. He also has specializations in working with same-sex couples; individuals who are struggling with their gender identity / gender dysphoria; family conflict; autism spectrum disorder; and borderline personality disorder.
